Roadworks Bulletin for Surface Dressing on A614 Old Rufford Road, Farnsfield
Farnsfield Parish Council
Surface Dressing Programme:
As Surface Dressing is a weather-dependent treatment, the programme remains subject to change throughout its delivery. The latest information and an explainer video about the programme can be found at www.nottshighways.co.uk/surfacedressing. Any changes to works dates are updated each working day.
Please find details below regarding each phased of surface dressing:
Preparation Patching for Surface Dressing
Deteriorated areas of the road surface will be patched and prepared, and any road studs are removed, to ensure the road surface is ready for surface dressing to be applied. These works will take place under a road closure at night in the majority of cases, minimising disruption to road users.
Surface Dressing Application
A bitumen emulsion and stone chips will be applied to the road surface. Works will take place under a road closure during the daytime - the road may be closed for a number of periods during the works, not the full duration. This process is weather dependent and as such the date of the work is subject to change.
Surface Dressing Encapsulation
A bitumen emulsion will be applied, ‘locking’ the stone chips and sealing the road surface. Works will take place under a road closure during the daytime - the road may be closed for a number of periods during the works, not the full duration. This process is weather dependent and as such the date of the work is subject to change.
Lining and Road Stud Installation - Post-Surface Dressing
Road lining and studs will be reinstalled following surface dressing, completing the process. These works will take place under a road closure at night in the majority of cases, minimising disruption to road users.
Surface Preservation
A surface preservation treatment will be applied to the road to extend its life and reduce the need for future repair works.
Some minor patch repairs may be made ahead of the main treatment and any lining will be renewed once the treatment is complete.
A daytime closure (07:30-18:00) will be required for around four hours on the day of the preservation treatment, along with additional short closures for patching and lining where required.
Please refer to on-site signage for exact closure dates.
